Positioning the female body as both subject and landscape, this relief print reflects on my experience of ovarian cancer and the often-invisible realities of women's reproductive health. The figure appears suspended between fragility and transformation, her form dissolving into organic structures that suggest growth, rupture, healing, and renewal. Through carving, the work seeks to make visible what is so often hidden, examining the intimate relationship between illness, identity, and the stories our bodies carry. Created in response to my ovarian cancer diagnosis at twenty-two, the work considers how illness reshapes our relationship to the body, transforming it from something inhabited into something studied, questioned, and ultimately reimagined.
